Following her succesful 27-year career in municipal administration for the City of Colorado Springs and more than two years as full-time RVers, Margaret Fraser and her husband Morris (40 years in journalism) built a retirement home in Navarre, Fla.'s large community of Holley by the Sea. Margaret began Pet Perks Pet Sitting in 2005, incorporating business and management strategies we learned in the workforce and as cast members for almost a year at Walt Disney World.
Just prior to the opening of the service, our two miniature poodles were put to sleep after 14 years. We have experienced the loving care a pet needs at the end of its life and are sympathetic to the difficult final decision that pet owners make and going onward with new pets to accept their love.
We are customer-service oriented and consider each client's individual needs. We can respond on short notice, and we give clients ample notice when we are not available; even then, we will work to provide an experienced substitute. We charge a per-visit fee for service, and we ordinarily do not charge for extra services. We don't charge a cancellation fee if your plans should suddenly change, and we don't "charge by the pet". We team up on almost all visits to provide twice the care and tummy rubs.
We also are active in the Navarre community. Margaret has been a volunteer Master Gardener in Santa Rosa County for 8 years and serves on the advisory board of the Panhandle Butterfly House. Morris is on the board of directors of the Friends of the Navarre Library. Both are members of the E.H. Pullum Senior Center, the Mary Esther Church of Christ and the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
Margaret has worked with the Small Business Development Committee of the Chamber, and Morris has been chairman of the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee and serves on the Music in the Park Committee. Both actively work with the Christmas in the Park Committee and are Chamber Ambassadors. We were elected Ambassadors of the Year in 2007, and Pet Perks was named Small Business of the Month in September 2007 and February 2010.
